April Ross
April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball athletes to win medals at least twice in an Olympics. Alix Klineman, competing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics, will try to earn her third medal. Ross hopes to win more than her first Olympic medal. Perhaps this is her only opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. Still confident, however. Ross was mentioned by NBC Boston as saying that if you play your highest, and even perform well, you will win the gold. That's why I'm taking a little bit of luck as well. Ross was born in California, Costa Mesa in the year 1982. Her parents and her sister resided there. In Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many different sports. In her time as a college athlete she was also a participant in indoor volleyball and track. When she played in the final sport, she clearly stood out. According to her bio, she played an outside blocker as well as a middle hitting volleyball player during her high-school career. In recognition of her accomplishments she was awarded the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. The year 2000 was the time she received an Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Ross is playing alongside Klineman since the year 2017 but her beach game was well-established long before that. The American has been a major winner in events twice, with various partners. One of them is an iconic player in the world of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years from 2007 to the year 2013. She also coached Klineman as well as herself. Alongside Kessy Ross was an ace on the international stage, claiming a world title in 2009. They eventually won an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the team that could take home the gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she announced her retirement. They both won beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross participated in the USC Trojans in college years after she graduated in high school. And her run at the school was one to remember. The year 2000 was her freshman year. was when she won the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman's of Year awards and be an All-American. She also helped the Trojans reach the Final Four. The Trojans were devastated through a tragedy in her life during her second year, but she was able to make it an All-American again. Over the course of her final two seasons she led the Trojans to the top of the mountain and won consecutive national titles. She had established her place as a legend by winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, did not have the opportunity to see her daughter become a beach volleyball superstar. Ross's mom passed away due to cancer of the breast when she was a sophomore in USC. She continues to cherish her late parent. Margie is a source of inspiration both in her personal life and at the beaches.
